Dental Hygiene

Grandfather And Granddaughter Walking On Winter Beach When you practice good dental and oral health habits, you are not just benefiting your teeth, gums, and mouth. In fact, your oral health habits can affect all parts of your body. In addition to cavities and gum disease, bacteria in your mouth has been linked to heart disease, dementia, and diabetic issues. This is why we offer dental hygiene services to keep you and your mouth as healthy as possible. We can take x-rays, screen you for any oral health conditions, and clean your teeth and mouth.

Our dental hygienists specialize in periodontal therapy. Periodontal disease can appear in three stages: gingivitis, periodontitis, and advanced periodontitis. If not treated in the first stages, you may lose bones in your mouth, gum tissues, and eventually your teeth. We have a three-step process to help you maintain a healthy mouth. It involves the following:

  1. Diagnosis—During a regular checkup, you’ll be examined for any signs of gum disease. You may be diagnosed with any of the stages of periodontal disease.
  2. Treatment—Your exact treatment will be decided based on the type/severity of the disease.
  3. Maintenance—It is extremely important to maintain regular cleaning appointments and take care of your teeth at home. We always recommend a cleaning once every 6 months, brushing at least twice a day, and flossing at least once a day.

Good dental and oral hygiene is vital to maintaining good overall health. We can catch any problems early if you maintain regular appointments with us. Contact us at Dental Innovations with any questions about dental hygiene or to schedule an appointment. We look forward to hearing from you!
