Simple Extractions

full bone extraction You are probably aware of how common wisdom teeth extractions are. Sometimes, other teeth may need to be removed, too. Here are some of the various reasons for pulling teeth:

  • Too much damage from either tooth decay or a trauma to your mouth can render a tooth unfixable.
  • A crowded mouth may prevent a tooth from being able to break through the gum or result in crooked teeth and pain.
  • Tooth decay and bacteria can make their way into the deeper parts of your tooth, causing an infection that cannot be treated.
  • If you have periodontal disease (gum disease), your teeth may loosen from the lack of support and may need to be pulled.

Benefits of Extractions

Teeth pulling may not be your idea of a good time, but the benefits of having a tooth removed can make the procedure worth it. Especially in the cases of infection or disease, removing a harmful tooth can help prevent serious dental problems in the future. Additionally, removing a potentially harmful tooth can help you avoid further pain/discomfort and save you money in the long run.

During the Procedure

We will use a local anesthetic to numb your tooth, jawbone, and gums before removal. You can also talk to us about your options for sedation when you make your appointment. Sedation is especially useful if you have any fear or anxiety about getting a tooth pulled.

During the procedure, you may feel a bit of pressure, but due to the anesthetic, you should not feel any pain. We can provide you with a prescription for pain medication to help you manage the pain afterward.

Full Bone Extraction

A full bone extraction is a special type of tooth removal where the tooth is completely covered by bone. While we would love to protect your current teeth and help them last a lifetime, it is not always possible. Even though a full bone extraction is a straightforward, routine procedure, it is still considered an oral surgery procedure.
